Has This Settlement Created Gross Injustice Towards Scale I, II and III?
|
GROSS INJUSTICE TO ALL OFFICERS UPTO SCALE III BY WAY OF THIS MEANINGLESS WAGE SETTLEMENT GOING TO BE SIGNED BY THE UFBU MEMBER ASSOCIATIONS The feedback received from our readers through email has cleared indicated that there is lot of dejection and simmering discontent among the bankers due to UNFAIR settlement by the Union leaders. However, the officers working in Scale I, II and III are seething with anger as there is all around feeling that not only injustice has been done to them but they have actually been cheated by the union leaders who are patting themselves and issuing circulars that this settlement is "Fair Settlement". This class of Scale I, II, III are the real backbone of the banking industry. They are people who are mostly posted at rural and difficult branches. They are the bankers who have to work for long hours and bear the burnt of anger of the customers and keep the show running. There is no doubt that even the senior bankers needed fair settlement, but not at the expense of their junior brethrens. Let us show how some of our junior bank officers (we do not mean in age as most of them have not even got promotions, but officers Scale I, II and III), feel about this settlement. We are just upload two mails which indicate how they have been treated Scale I,II and III vs. Scale IV; and Scale I, II,III vs. Clerical Staff:- AAP Sarma says : "Here is how u are befooled by the Wage Revision agreed and Yet to be signed. If your heart burns stop forthwith the signing ceremony and fight for justice: Two individual officers drawing same pay a day before settlement of wage revision are going to have distortion in their emoluments ranking to TWO INCREMENTS despite not having any upgradation in their position. Please go through the following for clarity.
Act fast to get justice, otherwise perish !" Mr Ashok Shukla says : "DEAR Mr. NADAF, CONGRATULATIONS FOR FINALLY GETTING THE SALARY REVISION TO A LOGICAL CONCLUSION. WHILE THE MEMBERSHIP HAD GREAT EXPECTATION AND WAS VYING TO GET SOMETHING AKIN TO SIXTH PAY COMMISSION, YET WE KNOW THAT WE HAD OUR LIMITATIONS. BUT, SIR, IN THE PRESENT SETTLEMENT, WE HAVE SOME GLARING ANOMALIES VIS A VIS AWARD STAFF. PL LOOK IN TO THOSE AND TRY TO RECTIFY. YOU MAY RECALL THAT IN 1997 THE SITUATION WAS REVERSE AND AWARD GOT IT RECTIFIED LATER ON - e.g. CLERICAL WILL GET HIGHER BASIC/WAGES AFTER REVISION:- CLERICAL - PRESENT 10000/ , REVISED 14100 + 1000 = 15100/ OFFICER - PRESENT - 10000/ , REVISED 14500+0 = 14500/- CLERICAL PRESENT 14330 , REVISED - 19900 +1000 = 20900 OFFICER PRESENT 14320 , REVISED 20100 + 0 = 20100 HRA 10% CLERICAL, OFFICER 8.5% The difference in percentage will lead to higher wages to clerical on some stages CCA OFFICERS - MISNOMER PERCENTAGE - since Rs. 540/ is not 4% TO THE EVEN OFFICERS' INITIAL/STARTING BASIC. PL LOOK IN TO THE MATTER" Does this mean that officers unions were so ineffective and lazy that they could not get even equal pay hike for Scale I officers when compared with clerical staff. Our workman staff leaves the office maximum by 5.00 PM on dot, whereas officers in Scale I are required to sit late which ranges from 6.00 PM to 9.00 PM on normal days. How do my Nadaf justify that it was a FAIR SETTLEMENT FOR OFFICERS? Please ponder upon the same. Thus, the above clearly indicates that clerks (juniors of scale I, II, III) and Scale IV (seniors of scale I, II, III) - both have won by hands down. It appears that Union leaders have forgotten that their main strength has always been Scale I, II and III, which may be constituting more than 90% of the total officers strength. In such circumstances, how do they feel it is a FAIR settlement? Now question arises what should be done by Scale I, II and III members who have already been crucified by the union leaders? Any answers please ! Come on all union leaders and answer to your the majority of members who are feeling cheated? Are you aware that if Scale I, II, III members leave the union, what will be your strength? Any guesses? |
