BONUS FOR BANK EMPLOYEES by ANANT JEURKAR I have been insistently and consistently writing on the bonus issue in all marathi leading news-paper during Dassara to Diwali period. All these papers also publish my letter on priority basis. But not a single banker or unionist has given me a support for this issue of " WHY ONLY NATIONALISED BANK EMPLOYEES ARE NOT GETTING BONUS OR EX-GRATIA (8.33%)" This right of bonus is withdrawn right from emergency period i.e. from 1975. And all Bank employees Unions have not uttered a single word against this decision. The limit of gross monthly wages was Rs.3500previously and now Rs.10,000, i.e. whose monthly gross wages are more than Rs.10,000, those employees will not get the bonus or ex-gratia. But this limit is not applicable to the Central Govt. employees, Co-op Bank employees, Private Sector Bank employees, other PSU employees. Only nationalised bank employees and LIC employees are the victims of this wage barrier. In case of the employees, like teachers and professors, whose contribution is zero in profit making, they are also getting the bonus! In Railway Administration, each and every employee in clerical cadre gets bonus - inspite of his monthly wages. Why this is not applicable to the Nationalised Bank employees and LIC employees? All bank employees are earnestly requested to think over this Bonus Issue and ask the Union Leaders to fight strongly and obtain the right of bonus. A profit of Crores of rupees is earned by the Banks, due to tremendous efforts of we bank employees only. |
