HRD ISSUES IN BANKS

A survey  has indicated a deep rooted frustration, anger and depression among the bank officers.  This has been specially among the officers who joined the Banks from 1979 to 1985.  (After 1985 there was hardly any recruitment at officer levels till 2005).  This frustration has been due to poor HRD policies in Banks over the last three decades or so.   We are aware of people who joined bank even after doing their MBAs from top institutes like IIMs, but could not reach the level of General Managers because they did not toe the line of the management for granting loans or so.   There are bankers who have all the qualifications and have achieved the targets, but have been successively denied the promotions as they do not have any Godfather.   On the other hand, there are people who are inefficient or have never worked in Branches, keeps on getting promotions regularly and are never transferred from their place of domicile.

We intend to devote a full section for HRD policies in banks in India.

a) Have you and your colleagues  been suffering due to  faulty HRD policies of your Bank?

b) Did you join the Bank with high hopes and dreams shown by Top Management in late seventies or early eighties of last century?  Have all these dreams been shattered?

c)  Are you an officer who has joined in last five years mainly  due to  outside glamour of banking and wrong notion of people about high pay in banks, but now find your dreams shattered?

d) Has your wife, who was a government employee and was getting half of your pay in early eighties, is now getting more than you, though continue to serve at a lower post?

e) Did you join as Probationary Officer (may be leaving jobs of Lectures  in University or a lucrative private job),  in the bank more than 25 years ago, but are still languishing at Scale III or IV or V?

f) Did your management at the time of recruitment showed the dreams of your becoming CMD, but leave alone yourself, none of your Batch-mate can dream of becoming even General Manager?

g) Did you took VRS due to shear apathy of the HRD and insensitivity towards the employees?

h) Have you and other colleagues been subject to frequent transfers and kept away from their family?

If answers to any of the above questions is yes, you should send your email giving your experiences with HRD of your bank. (You may or may not write the name of the bank).  However, we would like that the mail should be fact based and preferably touching the broad policies of the bank rather than individual cases.   You may write your suggestions.  Please send your frank views at allbankingsolutions@gmail.com

WE WILL ALSO WELCOME FEEDBACK FROM FEW LUCKY ONES WHO HAVE REACHED  THE TOP DUE TO GOOD HRD POLICIES IN SOME OF THE BANKS.   Share with us what are those policies which allowed the talent to grow?  Please send your frank views at allbankingsolutions@gmail.com
